What is APA Outpatient Cover?
APA Outpatient Cover is an optional rider that can be added to your core APA Care inpatient cover. Designed to manage the costs of everyday medical needs, it covers walk-in general practitioner consultations, diagnostic laboratory tests, imaging (X-rays and scans), prescription discharge drugs, and specialist visits when referred by a GP. With four limit tiers and cashless smart card access, it ensures your family gets immediate, stress-free clinical care across Uganda.

Prescription Drugs
Direct cover for medically necessary prescription drugs up to a maximum of 30 days' supply per visit.

Specialist Consultation Fees
Covers specialist consults up to plan sub-limits (UGX 100k - 140k) strictly upon written referral by a general practitioner (GP).

Diagnostics & Scans
Covers essential laboratory tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, MRI, and CT scans ordered by a doctor.

Physiotherapy
Covers physiotherapy sessions performed by a registered therapist when prescribed by a GP.

Chiropractic & Osteopathy
Treatment by chiropractors and osteopaths is covered subject to referral by a general practitioner.

Childhood Immunisations
Covers UNEPI recommended vaccines for children up to 18 months of age, up to a limit of UGX 250,000.

Pre-existing, Chronic & HIV/AIDS
Chronic conditions, pre-existing illnesses, and HIV/AIDS outpatient care are covered after 12 months (requires full disclosure).

Annual Wellness Check-up
Covers general health and wellness check-ups for members aged 21 and above, up to UGX 150,000–350,000 depending on plan tier.

Must be purchased in conjunction with an active inpatient cover plan.
Co-payment
UGX 10,000 co-pay at Nakasero Hospital, St. Catherine's Hospital, and satellite clinics.
