What is Elimu?
APA Elimu is an education savings plan that helps a parent or guardian build a fund for a child's education needs, while ensuring the required fees are available even in the untimely death of the policyholder during the term. It offers disciplined, flexible saving with maturity benefits and bonuses, and a built-in life cover with premium waiver on death — policy terms of 5 to 20 years for persons aged 18 to 65, with a maximum maturity age of 70.
Highlights
- Maturity benefit: 100% of sum assured plus simple reversionary (4%) and terminal (50%) bonuses.
- On death: 100% of sum assured paid immediately, future premiums waived, and 100% plus bonuses at term-end.
- Optional riders: TPD, Waiver of Premium, Medical Reimbursement (extendable to child), Critical Illness and Retrenchment.
- Policy loans and paid-up/surrender values after 3 full years' premiums.
- 15% insurance relief on premiums up to KES 60,000 per annum, subject to applicable regulations.
